Did I miss the small print while reading The Secret by Rhonda Byrne?

Nothing in the book could explain the events near Mount Tambora on Sumbawa Island on April 10 and 11, 1815 or in Hiroshima, Japan on August 6, 1945 or near Valdivia, Chili on May 22, 1960 or even those in New York City on September 11, 2001. What don't I understand?

The author is trying to say if everyone was like me, there would be no hunger, pain, or discord in the world. Animals would beg to be eaten, plants would joyfully sacrifice themselves to be our food, and no one would ever disagree with their brothers and sisters.

It is a lot like the flower child syndrome, they pass out flowers to everyone as a sign of love, not even realizing that the gift they are handing out is dead.

The 1950's were the ideal life, in that we could play in the fields around our house, go the the mall without even worrying about predators, schools still celebrated Christmas, etc, etc
unless you were a black person in Mississippi, or contracted polio.(What's that?) It's all selective blindness.

Actually, under "The Secret"s code, feminists are doing the absolute WRONG thing. by concentrating on injustices in the world, the feminists are MAKING them happen. we all must think happy thoughts and the bad things will go away. *marshmellowsrainbowsunicornsmarshmell...

As much as she thinks she has all the answers (she should hook up with Tom Cruise), that's not everything. Each person has a certain ammount of control over their own lives, but even more limited over others' lives. Why would she think each of those people decided to be there at those times, for that particular hell? Not one (I'm willing to bet) would have opted to be there, had they been told before hand what would have happened. Hope all goes well with you.

Richard, I think you DO understand but you are keeping that understanding a secret from us. The real secret of The Secret is this - it is easy to make money off of peoples' gullibility for any New Age hoax trhat comes along as long as you throw in some pseudo-quantum physics sounding language and you get Oprah to endorse it for you. I sure hope you didn't pay for that crap.
