Hendrick, has great people in the shop, engineers,engine builders, technicians, mechanic's, they do a lot of testing, everyone works together as a team, everyone in the shop, owner, crew chiefs,car chiefs, pit crews, great drivers, racing its all about people, when everyone works together, you see the results on the track, just look at their stats..Its hard to beat perfection...

Here's what they have learned, don't be afraid to test the "gray areas" of the rule book. Blatant cheating will get you in a heap of trouble but most of the things that HMS has gotten in trouble for are not clearly laid out in the rules. When Chad gets to problem solving outside of the box it makes NASCAR look stupid. They don't like that so they react with fines and suspensions. The one thing about Rick is he will back you 100% as long as you continually try to improve things, regardless of the consequences. Even when everything is going good at HMS, they don't sit back and take a break. They look for every loophole and advantage they can find whether that's with the cars or their testing. Rick is the driving force behind it all but he has assembled some of the finest racing minds and drivers that have ever been together on the same team. They and JGR seemed to have a distinct advantage in the earlier COT races but I don't think you will see either team dominate as much as they did last year.
edit: mattywin, HMS did NOT use the new Chevy motor last year, that was RCR and DEI that made the early switch. They are using it this year though.

I know they have some great equipment, but look who is driving the car also, Gordon has won 70+ races over 12+ years, and Jimmie Johnson has been without a doubt the best driver over the past five years winning on average 6 races a year. And now they have Casey Mears who is unproven for the most part yet, has seemed to mold nicely into the hendrick shop. And the addition of Dale Jr. has seemed to spark his interest in racing again. He will be a force this season, as he will test the limits of these cars. He will push them harder than any other driver on the track this year. He wants to succeed that much. I think that was one of his problems over at DEI was that he was driving his car so hard around the track that they cars were just giving up on him because of the way he was driving them. It won't be a problem at HMS though.

I'm not a hendrick fan but I certainly dont think they are bending the rules better than everyone else. They are just simply the best team currently racing in Nascar. Some team has to be the best. Right unfortunately for me, that team is Hendrick. But times will change and the pendulum of dominance will shift.

They are a really good team to begin with, and they always have been. They have always tried to bend the rules just like any race team, and sometimes they get caught, like Sonoma in 2007. Most every team tries to push the rules and some get caught and some dont. When you get caught you just work to find a different way, and you explore as many gray areas as you can.. That way your car will be the best. Other teams do have good drivers too but, they may not have the best engines, equipment, help, or experience, that HMS does. That's why they are unstoppable not because they push the rules like EVERY other team does...
