Sprint network in USA?

Hi thankd for reading and clarifying my question my grandson 14 yrs old just completed all the credits needed to graduate from Highschool I had promised him a new cell phone upon complition he has service with sprint but unclear to me if sprint is GSM or CDMA he wants a motorola V8 2 gb will this GSM phone work for him with sprint thanks very much i am sending it to him from China

Sprint operates off a CDMA network so if the phone he is requesting is GSM it most likely will not work. If he want's the RAZR 2 Sprint offers it on the website at www.sprint.com.
