Good book about managing your money in USA !?

Hey guys, I have recently relocated to USA and I am looking for a good book to help me figure out how to best manage my money. What I mean by that is, I've heard from friends about how you can easily get yourself into bad credit if you don't know what you are doing. I've also heard that there are various ways to earn more points for your credit, so it can grow faster.

All this is alien technology for me so I'd like a guide for dummies like book.

Regards,
Cezar

You could start with "Personal Finance for Dummies," or books by Suze Orman, Dave Ramsey, Larry Winget, and so on.

A few simple rules that nobody follows:

Make a written budget, so that all of next month's money is spent on paper this month.

Avoid credit cards. People go broke from paying for the same stuff twice (once with the card, and again with the interest and fees)

If you're looking to buy a house, there are only two good ways to do it:
1) cash, if you're rich
2) "fixed rate, 15-year mortgage", or
3) get scammed.

I would suggest "The Automatic Millionaire" and/or "The Millionaire Next Door".

Also check out books like "The Little book of common sense Investing"

Liz Pulliam Weston, a columnist for MSN Money, has a couple of really good books out on both budgetting and managing your credit score. Check her out!
