I got my first HD TV. Now what do I do?

I think I found a great deal so I want to brag about it first.  I got a 46 inch Westinghouse 720p TV that had a regular price of $1499 for $899 through Office Depot new.  It came out last year so they were moving out the old to make room for the new.  
So I have this TV in my house but I don't know if I need extra NECESSARY accessories or not.  I have DirecTV right now so I would like to see some channels in HD.  Do I need to buy separate cables to watch HD?  Do I need some surge protector or other things like that?

Please no mentions of 1080p or getting the newest, top of the line technology.  I don't like to pay the $1000+ premium to get the best available for 6 months and then have the next 'best' come out.

High Definition will look great on your new TV so it is time to get some. Right now DirecTV has the most HD programming available with over 90 HD channels, you need to make sure you have the new SLIMLINE dish and an MPEG4 receiver like the H20, H21,HR20 or HR21. Also with Blu-Ray having won the HD Disc war you may want to look into that (players will be $150 by the end of the year with 2nd tier manufacturers getting into the mix. Make sure you connect via HDMI cable (because all you need is a 720P signal entry level HDMI cables are fine) and I do recommend a surge protector with rf filtration.

HD television is well worth procuring fairly in case you have HD channels accessible. 17 inches television is rather small you incredibly dont wanna purchase 17 inches HD television. in basic terms spend few greater and get a minimum of a 32 inch.
