Why is it that people that ride GSX-R 1000s?

think they are experts in motorcycling and list the ownership of their bike as a source for their knowledge?

Any idiot can buy a literbike and many do.

I've seen more than 1 or 2 referrence the bike. It's been 5 or more, enough to catch my eye and rik me into spending 5 to ask a pointless question.

Could be any reason.
Such as the "Go Big or go home" syndrome.
It may be exactly what you think it is.
It may be that they have nothing else to put there.

Or like me (not likely) they have found that it's just a useful space to put another comment. Most "sources" in this section really aren't. However, the poster above me provides a classic example of when listing his motorcycle is a valid source. Even that happens once in a while.

Well a 1000 is really too much bike for a novice. Gixxer riders aren't the only type of riders who try to use their bike as a personal identifier.

You can't really categorize all gsx/r 1000 riders as that type. The common thought is that if you ride a more powerful bike, you must be experienced.

On the same note, just because you ride a 1000, doesn't mean you're a baddazz. Same goes for the closet princess with a louder than average Harley with a point to prove.

Bottom line is some people have bikes because they love to ride and some people are compensating for character flaws, personality issues, or to try and be somebody they are not.

My bike doesn't indicate who I am or my skill level. It indicates what I could afford at the time I was on the market.

think about what kind of bike most college aged kids want when they first go out to buy a bike. A gixxer. They usually think they know evertyhing there is to know because their bike can do 175mph in a strait line. Top speed is everything to some people regardless of handling or acceleration.
Not to say that it isn't a good bike, but gixxers, statistically, are ridden by young know it alls.

Must be they believe their bike is the hardest to ride or possibly the fastest. When somone comes on who owns one I'm sure they will tell you!
How many actually listed the bike as the source though? One, two? That is a bit a generalisation.

Anyone can buy one. This is America. You got the money'??? As for the bike. The GSXR 1000 are among the top performance bikes in the world. So few riders know or can ride the bike to it's performance levels.
