HI there:
wel i personally had 15 chickens at home. they were like a pet to me. So everyday when they give eggs i went to pick them up or when i went to feed them they all stands together and satre at me. and even when i move fast they start noices. Specially i could never touch their eggs because sometime they attack when you touch their eggs. So first i put their eating stuff in out side when they all come outside then i used to take the egg.
BUt yeah they really are nice creture. They scared so soon. specailly from cat, as 3 of my chicken were atacked even killed by cat.
Theres always one King among them. The one whos strong its always a king and whenever i went to them he was the first one then all stand behind him.
Its getting long answer but wana share more.... Actyally we had one Big cock two small coack and all other were chickens so once we brnig one big giant Cock (of same size as we had already) that night oh mygod they were fighting in the cage it was like midnight when i heard their voices then i opend a light and they were bleeding from nose and head area. As they cant tolerate more than one king in one cage u know. So then i bandaged them and i put the separately.
anyways
it was fun to watch them.
i dont have them anymore

Sudden loud noises can set chickens off to clucking. These are simply alert calls informing other chickens to look around for danger. It is the same with most all birds and not just chickens.
You'llneverguess
It wouldn't matter if you sneezed or did a loud fart just the noise alone scares them. And from what I know - chickens don't quack, they cackle - ducks quack.

Chickens are dumb animals, and scare very easilly. It's a defense mechanism. They don't like anything foreign, be it loud noises, sudden movements (ie: your head jerks when you sneeze) or the fact that you're at least ten to twelve times bigger than they are.
