How do I get my new "system" to boot using my old hard drive?
I have been running XP Home, using an AMD Athlon 2600+ on an MSI KT4 Ultra Motherboard for the last few years with no problems. I recently decided to upgrade the processor (Core 2 Duo), which naturally required a new motherboard (ASUS P5E-VM HDMI), RAM and power supply. After plugging everything in, including my old hard drive, and hitting the power button, Windows just hangs during the boot phase then reboots. It justs keeps doing that until I shut it off.
I have tested the new hardware using a different hard drive and a clean install of Ubuntu Linux (not that there is anything wrong with Linux, I am using it right now, but I still need XP and I want to keep everything else that I have installed on the old hard).
I have tested the "old" hard drive by installing it in the old system and it boots and works just fine.
Can I delete hardware profiles or something to get it to boot up using my old XP operating system?
