How was this considered "Insulting other members"?
I asked the question "Why are poker games played on ESPN?" last night and it was deleted. (I asked it again and it's still open.)
When I got the violation notice, I was expecting to see "Chatting" as the reason for violation and I was quite surprised when it was "Insulting other members."
Can someone please tell me how Y!A considered that question "Insulting other members"?

I didn't add anything in the details about poker players being stupid, etc.
In the details, I said something along the lines of..."I can see why fishing and bowling are on ESPN, but poker? Can someone tell me why it's on ESPN?"
That doesn't sound insulting to me!

Stir Fry- If I was like some people on Y!A, I'd report you for insulting me in Spanish. But I honestly don't care. Have fun!

Hmmm.
As long as you didn't add any insults in your Additional Details, then it's a bogus violation. (Someone was offended, which is an abuse of the Report System.)
Appeal it.
That way, not only can you get it reinstated and your points returned, but whoever reported you will lost status in the report system.
(Read the Guidelines, and follow the link to read about the report system. Oh, and go to the Forum, and take the quiz on the Guidelines; there you'll see that disapproving of a question or answer is NOT a valid reason to report it.)
Well Greta, I am sure that some things offend some people, and others they aren't offended by it. Each person is different. And I will admit that I too have had questions reported for violation, and deleted, and that costs you even more point, 10, and then I believe that it is 2 more points for deleting the question. I didn't see the question, the first time when you claim to posted it, I saw that you posted it yesterday, and I am not offended, and I took the time to answer the question. And plus may I add, that is the weekend, and I don't know as far as the modators' hours (if any) on the weekends. Or maybe the people that reported your answer haven't noticed that you re-posted it, or figured that you will stop asking it. I am not on the moderators of Yahoo Answers, so I can't tell you exactly how they considered it "Insulting other members". But I am sure that some people would have had to report your question, and even explained why they believed that it should be deleted, and they checked into it, and agreed with them. Plus when you ask a question, you don't know how people will re-act to it, nor do you know who reported it to Yahoo Answers, in less they tell you, and Yahoo Answers doesn't tell you, and I doubt they even would if you asked them.
I don't see anything insulting. I got reported once and never got a good explanation cept I didn't answer the question. I reported someone who was insulting others on this board and others in real life (politics) and nothing was ever done. In the country section a lot of the top contributers have been reported for answering questions, yet there are some trolls on there which ask the same question over and over, sometimes taking up a whole page at a time and nothing gets done about them. the problem is Y!A doesn't care.
you should not judge anyone on how they belief but even more important never say anything insulting toward god / nothing at all about god unless it is good because many Christan's takes this to heart because some of us believe it is a horrible sin you can never be forgiven for telling us there is no god is the same thing we know there is because we have something that non -religous people don't ...when they say prove it then we try many things or scriptures to do just that but honestly i don't think words ever prove any thing but we know they don't understand how we know because they never felt it or seen the truth- called blasphemy against god --- and we don't want to see any soul lost and many will jump up to defend god and many will also try to reticule you while others my try to push religion on you and try to redeem you....myself i hope i am wise enough to do nothing but pray for you.
With every free service, there is a downside. Yahoo is always deleting things for stupid reasons, or no reason at all. I recieved a violation two days ago and appealed. That is what I suggest you do. Good luck!
