how to edit microsoft word footnotes?

i have problem footnoting my documents using my 2007 microsoft word. when i edit a certain footnote, let's say page 2, the footnotes at page 4 are also edited. if i delete it, and so does page 4. the same footnote at page 2 appears at page 4. how do i make a footnote at page 4 without affecting the footnote at page 2? whatever i do to page 2, page 4 is affected. and so does the other even numbered page like page 6, 8, 10 etc...and also with odd numbered pages like 3, 5, 7 etc (my footnotes at page 3 also appear at page 5 and if i delete it, my footnotes needed at page 3 are also deleted). can i make a diversity of footnotes among different pages without affecting the other pages?
i really need a descent reply becoz its 4 my term paper. i checked every option available at the tabs above but nothing seem to help.

I don't have the exact steps for footnotes in Word 2007 because I use Word XP, but I suggest you look into Word's real footnote system rather than put footnotes in the footer (where you've found they cause problems) by hand.

Once you start using it, you'll wonder how you lived without it. It auto-numbers and auto-formats the footnotes.

Hope that helps.

I don't have 2007 Word, but you can solve the problem by breaking the link between pages.
You could also have endnotes instead of footnotes, much neater and easier to edit.

its all to do with the headers and footers being linked, try breaking the links and see what happens
