Really? Fabulous. =]
1) It hasn't changed, it has just extended. I listen to many more bands / genres than I used to - partly down to this place.
2 & 3) No particular R&Per to be honest. Many people both regulars and non-regulars are partly responsible for the extention of my music taste. Sometimes if I see a band or genre being mentioned here and it seems worth my time, I'll check it out and I have found many new bands this way. There have also been other factors outside of R&P. I'm always looking for something new and interesting to listen to - so I'm always seeking new bands, R&P just aids that.
1. Oh yes. I started off here and was just into Pop Rock. I liked Cute Is What We Aim For, Jack's Manequin, The Rocket Summer, etc... I actually was extremely ignorant and thought my music taste was better then anyone elses. Wow, I was wrong. 2. Jake, Squiks, Kyla, Sarah C, Jay, Samantha, Fonzie Jake- He got me into deathcore. Squiks- Secret & Whisper. Kyla- Her username was "Kyla, Where's The Boat?" That made me get into Drop Dead, Gorgeous. Also because of her I found out about Craig Owen's side project. Sarah C- Radiohead and Porcupine Tree Jay- Once gave me a list of indie bands which included DLD. One of the best recomendations I ever got. Samantha- skate 4 cancer and some other good stuff. Fonzie- I was on one of my "I have a ton of money so I'll spend it all on CDs" shopping sprees and was going up and down the aisles searching for some music and I saw Rush's "Fly By Night" and noticed it as his avatar so I got it.
I was actually thinking about how I would answer a question like this last night and bascially loving how I R&P has effected my music taste.
1. I wouldn't say changed, but I did learn about an awful lot of new music thanks to this site
2. Smiley, Fonzie T, Darth Maul, Deep Floyd, Sarah c, Cinnamon & Jake
3. Smiley --> Camel Fonzie T --> Rush, Van Der Graaf Generator, King Crimson & some indie Darth Maul --> Accept, Black Sabbath, The Who Sarah c --> Porcupine Tree Deep Floyd --> Deep Purple, Uriah Heep Cinnamon --> Guns N'Roses Jake --> Strangely enough, the music that I discovered through Jake /isn't/ metalcore! Sublime, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots
Betcha don't recognize me at all, I'm so generic....lol
1 Yes, indeedy!
2 Smiley, Sarah, Deep Floyd, Roxel, Will
3 When I first came to Yahoo I throughly hated and despised pretty much all Music from 1995 on. I thought it was all tripe and trash. I have Sarah and Roxel primarily to thank for showing Me I was wrong. Smiley, Will, and Deep Floyd I have To thank for showing Me that I actually didn't know ALL Classic Rock, but only about 85% of it as they introduced Me to Old Bands I didn't know of and pretty much completed My Classic Rock knowledge.
1. My music tastes have always been pretty varied but I have been influenced to deeper explore a few genres that I had only touched upon myself.
2. Rckets & Spooky
3. I had lightly touched upon Industrial myself but only with some of the better known bands like NIN; Rckets and Spooky introduced me to a whole lot more that don't get much airplay or commercial hype. The store where I get cds now owes them a healthy commision ;-)
