how do i become a pagan or wiccan?

ive done ouija boards once. but i was with other people this guy he said he was a medium. like really weird things happened. their were demons like on it the table we were doing it on flipped over. we were trying to connect with a friend that passed 2 years ago at age 13 i wasn't friends with him but they were. anyways its to long ofa story but anyways we helped him or tried to anyways. we almost broke into a church to steal a bible(this was before i became atheist) and i know their are good like powers and bad ones. so i just want to attract positive energy. every since that night i haven't been the same i always feel like something evil is by me or watching over me im to scared to even go to sleep. basically i want to become a wiccan but nothing to do with satianism as i am afraid to turn lights of in my own room. oh and im 15 but im not a silly little girl i don't get scared easily. thanks<3molly

You're 15 and don't get scared easily, but all you talk about its the stuff that scared you - you can't even turn off the lights in your room.

Sigh.

Right off the bat, I'm going to tell you that becoming Wiccan involves a LOT of study, effort and work. It's not a cute game where you go to the mall, buy a few books you never read, get a cute wand from Claires and goth clothes from Hot Topic.

It is a LIFELONG commitment to study and learning and practice.

If that's not too much for you, then you need to understand a few other things. Spells are NOT instant, you can't change your eye color, body shape, make someone love you just because you cast a spell.

If you still want to pursue it, go to your local new age store and tell them you are interested in learning. They will point you in the right direction, but understand that most covens will NOT agree to teach you anything unless they have the full consent of your parents. And ones that do agree to teach you and tell you to hide it from your parents are NOT covens you need to be involved with.

As already posted, www.witchvox.com .. Amazing people there and a lot of good lessons.

To start you off:

Now, this thing about "becoming Pagan" . Well, it is who you are, really. Take away the religious sects and find the core values and connection with life, nature, and spirituality and there you go.

One important thing you need to know is that Wicca is not all about Ouija boards and speaking to the dead. It most certainly isn't about devil worship or satan. It is mostly about the Earth, the Moon, Nature, and finding what is right for you.

You also don't have to follow anyone's specific guidelines to practice as a Wiccan (though the base aspects that make a Wiccan a Wiccan) or as a Pagan. You can be Solitary, like me, or Blended and acknowledge many.

Paganism is all about allowing your spirit to go where IT needs to go. Not where outside forces, such as dogmas, tell you it needs to go. Only the spirit knows its path. Let it be free to go where it needs.

Don't be so scared. There is nothing at all negative or frightening about Paganism. It's all about positive energy and doing good for the world around.

Join WitchVox and ask for some guidance. You can also look up groups in your area for help. You'll be surprised at how different we are from what you've heard in Sunday school. They can also help you cope with your friends death through positive energies and the close bonds you will make.

Welcome, sweet one!

Many Wiccan or other Pagan groups will not allow you to be an active member without parental approval until you are 18 because of the potential for legal difficulties as we are members of minority religions and do not want someone to falsely accuse us of improper conduct because they do not understand our religious beliefs.

This does not prevent you from studying on your own however. BUT, THAT BEING SAID, I would still want to know your reasons for becoming Wiccan or some other form of Pagan before I could give you advice on the authors you might wish to look up. I would also want to know if you have been drawn to any particular set of deities as many Pagans who are NOT Wiccans follow a specific pantheon (such as the Greek, Norse or Egyptian)

Without this information, my best advice is to start with some of the articles on http://www.witchvox.com and go from there

If you're an atheist there's no point in being Wiccan. Wicca is a religion. It revolves around gods.

Pagan is a far more nebulous term, but honestly I fail to see from your details why you want to be one. If you think it will give you magical powers, you don't know what Paganism is.

Mostly you just told us you don't want to be a Satanist. Which is fine, but not being a Satanist doesn't make you a Pagan or Wiccan.

I think you should figure out what it is you actually want and THEN seek out a group that addresses those wants.

Wicca has nothing to do with Satanism - Satan is a purely Abrahimic demi-god.
You may begin to study up - read books, go to different websites. You *might* find a local group that will let you ask questions and such, but no self respecting high priest/ess will initiate you, or give you full lessons, until you are 18, or if you have your parent's written permission.
Spirituality is nothing to take lightly. It's not all fun and games - it's a serious, life affirming choice. Study as much as you can, and decide if it's what you really want to do.
