What is a good size memory capacity for a small office computer?

We are purchasing new computers for our small insurance office and are wondering what memory size would be good. Any siggestions? Most of our work is done by internet but there are a few programs that we have to install. Thanks!!

Purchase the most you can afford, as there will come a time when you will regret not buying two GB. You can purchase 4 GB of memory for $90 right now (which is overkill) but I would not go with anything less then 2GB for office computers. If your employees are anything like the ones I support, then they will be running ten apps at the same time. Remember, not matter what amount of memory you purchase, not all of it will be available for the operating system and the applications to use. A portion of it will be used by the hardware, and there is nothing you can do to change that. With 4 GB installed, there will be only 3.2 GB available for use for Windows and the applications. A similar percentage reduction will be seen whether you have 1, 2 or 3 GB installed. 2GB should be your base starting point because of this. If you are talking storage then 100GB seems to be the standard now for hard drives in new systems.

First of all....DO NOT AND I REPEAT DO NOT get Windows Vista. Especially for an office. Get XP Professional and I would say 1 GB of memory is fine to support the servers. Keep in mind how much memory the video cards will eat up as well, depending on whether or not it is independent or shared memory.

I would suggest u to buy a PC with RAM not smaller then 1GB.

If u can it is better to get a PC with greater memory but it depends on what operating system u will use !

it matters what the computer is for but if u need to hold alot of files on it then id suggest at least a 200 gig

Well for a business i would go with a big hard drive. and ram i would go with either 512MB Or 1Gig. depends on how fast and smooth you want things running. 2Gigs for this job would be unnecessary.
