Just Curious... Has anyone ever taken a young child with them to a NASCAR race?
I have a daughter who is 5 years old... she's a BIG TIME NASCAR Fan, and she's knows her stuff! She likes Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards. Anyway, we are taking her to the Nationwide race in Talladega, just to see how she does, if she can handle it, or what. If she does good, then we will take her to the Cup race in Oct. there.
Has anyone ever taken a young child to a race? If so, how did it go?

I think she will have a great time. Just explain to her what it will be like. She might get a little tired but she will enjoy herself, after all its NASCAR!!!
p.s. we've got to talk to her about her drivers! lol.
I started going at the age of 5 at MIS, I remember that I liked to sit in the first few rows as a child, nowadays I dont. Bring earplugs, bring binoculars, bring a scanner for the child, bring a sandwich and a soda, just something for them to do while theyre in between. If not, theyll lose interest. I remember I did at a young age. Remember that A Busch race is alot easier for a young child to bare than a Cup race. Carl and Tony are in the Busch race too, so win-win.
Talladega huh? Hmm, those fans can get pretty rowdy, especially Jr. Nation. Just be glad Jeff Gordon won't be racing at Talladega for the Nationwide event, or you'd see a lot of swearing and a lot of one fingered salutes. Not what you'd want your five year old to see. But I'm sure she'll be fine. Just try to keep her entertained during the green flag runs but I'm sure you won't have a problem with that... It is 'Dega, after all. And depending where you sit, you may want to give her ear protection because it gets VERY loud. Or a radio to keep her interested.
And maybe getting her some fan gear.. she'd like that I'm sure..
We have took my little brother several times. Take ear protection and expect to leave early. From my experience Cup races are too long for small kids they get crabby after 3-4 hours sitting in one spot is the sun. Most people with small children don't get to watch the whole race, but if she may enjoy it.
I took mine and they loved it. They had headphones that they wound up only wearing part of the time. They also thought it was fun wearing the headphones. They loved the noise and the air blowing when the cars went buy. When the cars first start up and start going around it gets your ears kind of used to the noise which is the really loud roar when they scream by after the race starts. Just be prepared with snacks and stuff if they get bored which can happen.
