Mets/Phillies?

last night, for the first time since june of last year the mets beat the phillies. As a met fan i want a non met fans opinion. Will the mets use this momentum and carry it forward, perhaps put last year behind them? or, was last nights 8-2 win just an abiration for the mets?

Let me start by saying I am a Phillies fan. I think the Mets & Phils will continue to battle all year for 1st place. They will both have hot & cold streaks & probably take it into the final week of the year. However, I wouldn't get too excitied about last night... no Rollins, lots of errors = ugly win. However a win is a win... The Mets NEED Reyes to get on a roll because he is not hitting or running the bases yet.

I think for the momentum it has to be more than one.

Let me expand, I think that they can build on this; I think the Phils and Mets will battle all season, they are both two great teams and the cream of the NL. I do not put much into what happened last year...that was last year, both teams have some different players and both teams are very good, they will go back and forth all season and the winner has the best shot at the series.

I am a huge met fan, however I was not even slightly encouraged by our win last night. We mustered just 5 hits. Before we broke the game open we stranded the bases loaded twice! We made some poor fielding plays. That game was a gift. Its a long season and hopefully we get rolling soon

As a met fan

i will take the win, but we only had 5 hits--i am concerned about the offense-we only have 3 hr's,,but winning today and taking 2 of 3 from phils could be something to build on.

The Mets will be OK, there's only been 7 games played. When its all over, they'll be in the playoffs.

I know the Mets have the best fans...they are not bandwagon jumpers like the Phillies' "FANS," where were they 3 years ago?...
