Person - This depends on how old you feel. I know some people in their early 30's who are old as the hills, already. You're as young as you feel!

Car - The minute you drive it off the lot. As soon as the next edition comes out, your vehicle is already a has-been.

Coat - Depends on what area of the country you live in. IE: In NYC, you are out of style within a year or two. But I personally moved from NYC to MPLS, and I could wear that coat for 3 more years, as NYC fashion had yet to hit MPLS. So by the time it hit, I was back in style. And another thing to remember, when it comes to fashion, what goes around...comes around again....eventually.

Can of beans - I would say about a year.

Bottle of beer - Have never had one in my house that lasted long enough to find out.

Bottle of unopened wine - See beer answer.

Bottle of opened wine - I personally think they turn to vinegar after about a week. And that is with proper storage. Maybe I just buy cheap wine. ;)

House - NEVER!! If you keep it up-to-date and take care of it, a house should last you a lifetime.

Dog - Depends on the breed. Larger dogs have shorter lives. My poor dog has only got an average lifespan of 9 years. He is currently 5, which would make him middle aged. But he's still pretty frisky!

Butterfly - 6 months and they are worm food.

Pound of hamburger - Frozen and well packaged, 6 mos. Covered in the refrigerator, a few days.

Television set - When walk thru the appliance store and notice all the tv sets are half as thin and three times lighter than the one at home in your entertainment center, you know it's time to trade up.

Movie - The classics never get old...and some of the new movies were old before they ever hit the big screen.

Sure, I'll have a slice of cake!

1. 50+ is usually considered old
2. Probably like after 5 or 10 years
3. A couple weeks
4. A couple months
5. Wine unopened can last a long time. It depends on the year and type. (my dad is a wine expert)
6. Just like above, as long as you put it in a celler
7. Maybe like 10+ years
8. I think a dog is considered old after 8 years
9. I don't know, never reallyu heard anything about it
10. 7 days
11. Ones from like the 50s
12. 3 years

I forgot the coat: but again, I don't really know

Hmm, good question. Congrats on the 500th. Let me take a stab at this.

Person = when you feel it.
Car = depends on when it becomes unreliable
Coat = when it is out of fashion and you care
Beans = 2 years
Beer = 1 year
Unopened wine = depends on varietal and vintage, but a good rule of thumb is 3 years for white and 6-8 for reds
Opened wine = if exposed to air the entire time, 4 hours, if the oxgen is mostly removed and its refrigerated, 7-10 days
House = 50 years
Dog = 8 years
Butterfly = 14 days
Hamburger = vacuum sealed and frozen, 1 year, not sealed an in the fridge, 7 days
TV = 5 years
Movie = when people don't watch it that much anymore (i.e. not "classic")
