I am looking to buy a new camera. I am not a novice when it comes to photography but I am not a proffessional either. I would like a camera that is more than just a point and click. Something versatile. What Camera would you suggest and where can I get a good price?

If you are looking to get more control over your photos, consider a DSLR. These can be a bit pricey, starting at about $600 for body and kit lens. They come with programed modes, like a point and shoot and also allow you to manually set some functions to complete manual control. These are not the types of cameras you should buy off the internet, at least without holding a few at a local shop first. You may be surprised how competitive local stores can be with the internet shops these days. I like Olympus. They make a great entry level DSLR, the E510 as well as the E-410 and E-500. It has simple controls for beginners, and allows for the manual control more advanced users need. You can check out some reviews at dpreview.com. I do strongly suggest you go to a local shop that has these types of cameras and handle a few in store to get a feel. Bear in mind, when you buy a SLR (digital or film) you are investing in a system. The lenses and other accessories you acquire will work from you first camera and with subsequent new camera bodies as you upgrade later on.
There is a SLR Like camera that is in between point and shoot and DSLR. The pricing on these can be close to what entry level DSLR's are currently. These are the cameras that look like SLR cameras, but have a fixed lens. Either of these types will produce great images, usually superior ot point and shoot cameras.
