Gear Shift Problems???

The car starts all fine when its cool the gears shift right but when the car starts to heat up the gear starts sticking, so this is the low down when warm the car will reverse okay no problem at all there, but when you try to put it into N D 2 3 it wont switch into it uless u mess with the gear stick, when you do get it into to drive the car jumps then goes into gear and when driving the car wont shift gears at all it will stay on low gear no matter how far you push down the pettle the gears wont switch when you turn off the car and let it cool its okay so what is the problem with this car is it the transmisson, stuck linkage, somthing else or the gear stick no good???

Most auto trannys have a park switch, a reverse switch and an anti-creep switch. All if these serve a function. It sounds like either . Sounds like the anti-creep which holds the car while stationary may be out of place, judging by the stick fidddling. Also, if the transmission fluid is bad, it has lost its viscosity, so as it heats up, it becomes thinner, and less effective if there are hydraulic functions it has to perform, whih it probably does. Get the Fluid changed and the filter leaned first, and check that all the switches are mounted and seure and working. BOL
