There are many, but the main seems to be the danger of turning your back on nature and ignoring the limitations of being human. By isolating himself and becoming an obsessed creator, Victor begins to see himself as "god-like" and is ultimately destroyed as a result of his own creation- not because the creature is inherently bad, but because Victor neglected his duties and responsibilities as a creator/father.
An additional theme could be that things are not always as they seem: the creature is hideous on the exterior, but a sensitive, caring, intelligent individual who is driven to destroy only because of his loneliness and desire for companionship.
