Replace the switch

Have it replaced. It's not worth the risk to try repair it yourself. What if you foul it up and the cruise control won't disengage. Then you will have a 'real' problem.

you lost the ground connection .. the only thing you can do is replace the switch and wires.. hard for me to explain.. you need to run a test with a ohm meter to see if any thing is open.. the wires that is and it has to be grounded to function. ok.

Throw the phone at the laptop then hit the eject button on the car (making sure your parachute is secure) as you are being ejected from the out of control car throw both the laptop and the phone at the car and swear at all them. :-)
