Ask and you Shall recieve.... question?

The Bible says that if you call upon God and ask for his help that you shall recieve it...

Do you ever find yourself wanting, hoping and or wishing for the help on something or someone or w.e? Then do you find no matter how hard you want something to happen or to be helped it doesnt? Then do you also find that when you ask God for his help on something, idk if i am the only one who feels this, that you feel a sensation that is hard to explain, that occours in your heart or body and it just feels good and right? THen do you see things starting to work in your favour for the good? Am i thee only one that this happens to or feels this sensation? I sometimes feel like my heart is lifted? Whether i ask God to help my stress in life or to help other people? Is this feeling God? The only other time i feel like this is when i sing, either a song about God or a song in general, is this the same feeling? Also, sometimes i get overjoyed when i sing and i stop singing and tremble?

I know exactly what you mean...and I think I have an explanation (at least it works for me *smile*)...

When you call upon God and ask for his help, you ALWAYS receive it. The trick is identifying that help...and sweetie, I think you just did!!!

Like you said, sometimes you ask for his help on something and you get that "good and right" feeling. The bible calls it "peace that passes understanding"...you know you feel the peace but you don't know why or how. Then you start seeing those things working out for good and it confirms and uplifts your faith.

In some cases though, you ask for his help and the thing you want doesn't happen...more importantly, you don't feel that "peace" (that sense of "good and right") when you made the request...and you find yourself questioning his promise to give you what you request. ...but he did...he helped you by allowing you to see that the thing you were requesting isn't what you really need!

Think about the way Jesus taught us to pray...

"Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name"...in other words, "God, you're the greatest"...even a child knows that people receive requests better when you start by acknowledging the other person's value.

"Thy kingdom come "...in other words, I trust that you will keep your promises.

"Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven"...in other words, I trust that you know what is best.

"Give us this day our daily bread"...in other words, tell God what you need.

"And forgive us our sins as we forgive those that sin against us"...in other words, help me to live as you command.

"And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil"...in other words, don't give us anything that will lead us to evil and when we find ourselves there, save us!

You have just identified the most valuable skill a Christian can develop...the ability to distinguish between those things you want that are good for you and those things you want that are NOT good for you! When you pray for something and you don't feel that peace, take that as a sign that you need to pray for something else. In some cases, as you pray, you'll discover the solution that provides that peace...and in other cases, "thy will be done" is where God is going to lead you! In other words, in some situations, you won't feel that peace until you accept that you simply don't have the knowledge or the imagination to identify the best solution to whatever you're facing and put your trust in his wisdom to give you more than you can possibly ask or imagine!!!

The heart is deceitful above all and we should not lean so much on our emotions we get from a song. I am not saying you are in error or you believe differently ,it's just that we must be aware all the time.
It sure feels good having a sweet fellowship with the Lord through praising and worshiping Him in hymns and psalms. Every child of God is blessed spiritually and I believe also how the spirit lifted us in times we need it and how the holy spirit helps us with our groanings that is sometimes hard for us to utter.
I suggest everytime you spend a quiet time with God put it in a journal and write everything ,every experiences you have had with the presence of the Lord.
I do sometimes also felt as if the Lord is holding my head and brushing my hair with His hands at times I pour out on Him my burdens.
May God richly bless you...

we all experience God differently. You have nailed the key to the "ask, seek, knock" verse, in that all three words are active verbs. An action must be present. We must SEEK his face. We must go to him, and that is what you are doing, by SEEKing him out, and by SINGing his praise.

I cannot say that you are feeling God, but if I were a gambling man, I would put my money on it. Or maybe even bet my life on it.

Be Blessed.

There is a gospel song. "He touched me". A line of the song"He touched me and oh the joy that floods my soul." I believe that is what you are feeling. Keep on singing and praising God. Don't let anybody stop you. Be blessed.

Don't stop singing to the Lord. He hears you and he loves it.
You said...I sometimes feel like my heart is lifted.........it's because, you are giving him your worries. When you give God your problems, (and he does want you to do that) than that "lifted heart feeling" is coming from him. He's letting you know that he's got your back and everything is going to be ok!!!

Don't stop trusting in him. And keep the praise songs going...GOD DOES LOVE HEARING THEM!!!

I pray the Lord blesses you and yours!!!
