Why is there a Yahoo! Answers category in Yahoo! Answers? Is it the "catch-all" if no other is appropriate?

I could understand if questions pertaining to Y!A 'only' were in this category, but you see all types of questions here. What am I missing?

Hello Leilei,

You are not missing nothing at all.
Newcomers as well as old users use this sub category because they have a hard time looking for the right category by themselves.
Just by looking at some low intelligence questions posted here it does not surprise me that some users DO NOT KNOW how to write or read and if you add the lazy users as well, this is what this sector looks like.
When users feel like ranting or chatting, this is where they end up.

I know it is annoying but that's the way it goes and it gave me a TC badge for helping kids and adults that do not think twice before asking, just like in real life.
If you enter "account deleted" in the search engine above there are over 24,000 results, if you write "question deleted", you ll get over 215,000 results, if you search "answer deleted", the count is near 25,000.

So some fancy users do not understand that we are not Yahoo staff and keep posting these questions which are usually chatting or ranting postable in the FORUM section on top.

Finally all questions are categorizable in the different sectors and sub-sectors. Remember, some people do not know how to look in a dictionnary, does it give you a hint about what it is in this game.

My main language is french and i play both languages and its the same in french, but there are more insults there.

What can i add !

Have yourself a nice Yahoo QA game !

^^^^so true question mouser

Seriously, I think yahoo should rename this the "how do I get to level 2" section.

A lot of the questions here are general questions about the site- what are points, how do I get to level 2, why isn't my avatar showing up, et cetera. Some people don't bother to read what section they are putting their question in and it winds up here.

You're not missing anything - it IS supposed to be for questions about the product 'Yahoo!Answers', not a 'catch-all'. People are frequently very sloppy about categorizing!

It's intended for people to be able to ask questions about the site but it does wind up being a potpourri of questions that don't really have a home elsewhere.
