Your parents should take her right to the vet. A bucket of antifreeze is concentrated, and daschund's are very small dogs. Since you don't know how many slurps she got, better to err on the side of caution.

IS YOUR PUP OKAY? PLEASE UPDATE!

You really need to get your dog to a Vet or most likely it will die within a few days. Not only will it die, it will suffer.

I'm very sorry to have to say this to a kid, but if your parents don't take this seriously your dog is going to die. I had a cat who ate anti-freeze and it died. It's horrible what they go through.

I looked up some info and it only takes a bit to kill a dog. It takes ANY amount to harm them. She WILL have problems because of this. Here's some info that I found..

Antifreeze poisoning occurs in two stages: In the first stage, the ethylene glycol in the antifreeze causes a drunken appearance in the animal within about 30 minutes which may continue for several hours. After passing through stage 1, the animal appears to recover. Stage 2 begins when the dog's liver begins metabolizing the ethylene glycol, changing it into more toxic substances. Within 12 to 36 hours of ingestion, these metabolites have reached such a level that the dog's kidneys stop functioning, and the animal slips into a coma.

Please have your parents read this...and read the site that I'm including. The dog NEEDS to go to the Vet. You can take her to the Vet now and help her before she is in pain and before too much damage is done...or you can wait...and if she lives you can deal with her health problems and the pain she's in for the rest of her life. Which sounds better? Which do you think would be cheaper (because I have an idea that's what's at the bottom of this).

Good luck. I hope your dog is fine and never has any problems.

By the way, that anti-freeze needs to be cleaned up NOW. Because she has tasted it she will go right back to it every chance she gets. It never should have been there in the first place. Every one knows that animals love anti-freeze and that it will kill them.

Sorry to say your dog is probably dead. it crystallizes their insides, a tiny sip will likely be fatal. drinking it straight for 5 seconds Will be fatal. It wont be painless either, the poor thing will suffer tremendously. Ill probably get a thumbs down and reported for this but.. the only thing you can really do is kill the poor thing before it starts suffering too bad. Iv had two dogs and one cat that drank antifreeze, they only consumed small amounts and they all died painfully within days.

You have to take her to a vet NOW,or you will have a dead puppy or one with very serious kidney damage. You have 12 hours from the time of ingestion to get the dog to the vet for treatment. After that most dogs die or suffer permanent kidney damamge.Hurry and take her NOW,and from now on,tell your parents to buy "Sierra" brand anti-freeze,as it is much less toxic than other brands. Now hurry and get that pup to an emergency vet!!

The bad thing about your situation is that once the dog begins to show the symptoms it is too late for her. Antifreeze causes kidney failure, so the symptoms do not appear until the kidneys have failed. If you wait for symptoms to show up before you take her to the veterinarian, then it will be too late to save your little dog.
Your puppy has consumed poison and should be seen by the veterinarian immediately if it is your intentions on saving the dog's life.
