How much did your homestudy cost?

We have to get one done for our step-parent adoption and just wanted to be sure we were quoted a reasonable price by the lawyers office. From what I've seen they can vary greatly. We live in Texas.

We're in the Dallas/Ft Worth Area. We were told $650 so I guess that is a pretty good deal.

Well we only have to do one initial visit and that's it. This is just for a step-parent adoption and not a full on one so it's a little more lenient (and apparently a lot less expensive).

Ours was FREE because we went through the CPS foster to adopt program in Texas! We have adopted one (age 3 when we adopted her) and have a baby (we got her at 4 days old) that we are in the process of adopting right now! We have fostered 8 other kids ages 2 1/2 and under! There are so many kids in the system!!

Ours was $1500, done by our agency. Included their travel to our home (about 5 hours). We're also in Texas. $650 sounds like it's on the low end of average.
Ours also includes post-placement visits. You may want to ask if they are included, or if there is an additional fee.
In TX, the new law is that they make another home visit within 30 days prior to any placement - also ask if there will be an additional charge for that.

My first one was $350 while my second one was free because we went through CAS for a Foster to Adopt adoption.

Where in Texas ? - Ours in Austin cost $1600 and that included the post-adoption visits and reports.

$1200 for us.

$650 is probably a pretty decent deal.
