They are so tiny it's hard to see them. They are literally about the size of a speck of dust! They are bright red and when you smash them, they leave nothing but what appears like a spot of red ink or blood.
And are they harmful at all?

They're called Velvet Mites..or Red Spider Mites. Even though they're annoying and everywhere it seems, they're not dangerous to humans at all. They are parasites, and only host off of grasshoppers.

very annoying is what they are! There're not harmful really, but they do bite. It'll itch for about 5 seconds, but after that nothing will happen.
they're no biggie, i have them on the stone wall around my garden.
