How to cash a scholarship check?

I received scholarship money from an organization in my high school community, and they awarded them at a dinner with those big checks that are like a foot tall and two feet across. Has anyone ever gotten one before? If so, how do I cash it? I don't think you can wait more than like 90 days to cash it.
Can anyone help me?

You should have recieved a "real" check at the same time.  In that case, just take it to the bank and put it in the bank until school starts.  If you didn't get anything besides the giant check, you might call the organization.  Most of the time, they send the money directly to your school.
