Why do people have a hard time accepting the gay community?

Recently Calafornia made it legal for gays to get married so now they no longer have to go to mexico.

Because ALOT of society is so close-minded. Society looks at people who don't conform to the normal standard (whatever that is) and they tend to try to alienate them. Take a look at what just happened in Texas with the FLDS. The authorities have turned the kids back over for lack of evidence. People with tattoos and piercings who dress goth are often looked down upon. Take a look at the reaction of folks who are in a restaurant when a homeless person walks in. Being from the south, I cringe when I hear slurs relating to someones ethnicity. It's all wrong!!!!

When mainstream society stops looking down their nose at others for not conforming, then EVERYONE will be accepted. Until then (and I don't see that happening anytime soon) we all need to voice our opinions and stand up for our rights in a dignified manner. Kill them with kindness, then it will be hard for others to attribute anything negative to gay people. I'm not saying let anyone walk all over you. There is a line that has to be drawn.

When we represent our gay community in a positive way, there should be positive results.

the theory that maximum gays are extremely bisexual is frequently attributed to the heterosexual community extremely. Its depending on the theory that Homosexuality is a decision and not in any respect a organic element. hence someone won't be able to be only gay, they must be bisexual and jsut pretending to be gay. so a techniques as i understand interior the gay community they don't have any concern with it. by its very nature the gay community has a tendency to be extra open and accepting of all varieties sexuality and factors of view.

Some people are judgemental and dont understand. Some think that we choose to be gay or lesbian and that is not the case and some just want there own kind out in the world which is very sad.

I don't think gay marriage is legal in Mexico. You're thinking of Canada.

People are close-minded.

People who can't think for themselves listen to their church leaders, families, etc. and think that it's wrong.

Anyone who is educated enough about gay people and relatioships is usually open to it.

When I talk to people who are opposed to gays, they usually have one or two arguments that they heard elsewhere. Besides that, they have nothing to say because of their ignorance. I really think education is the key to acceptance, because education opens people's minds and allows to see things from different angles.
