For my church's mission trip, we all give each other gifts at the end. This year, my team cut down a huge tree, and I got a slice of a log to keep with a note on it from my leaders. The tree was already rotting, and it now smells horrible. I already tried to Febreeze it, and it didn't work.
Any ideas? I really don't want to throw it away. It's sentimental.

Put it in a REALLY dry place until it completely dries out or seal it in a LARGE plastic container with a bag of charcoal. Then you can seal it with wood sealer and it will keep for a long time.

It's just a tree lady... An idea is putting it in a sandbox until it dries out completly.

Dry it out, hang it in a dry place for a few weeks and when it is dry paint it with varnish all over. A few coats to be safe.
