Do all male puppies hump/mount a lot?

So this might sound like a dumb question, but I really don't know. When we got Loki he was 1 and neutured, and Lacie has never mounted or humped anything in the 3 years that she's been alive.

My brother in law was over today with his 3 month old Golden Retriever puppy and he was like obsessively humping and mounting our male dog Loki. Loki didn't seem to care and let him do it, it was just odd to see such a young little puppy doing this. Is this the normal behavior for puppies? He never once tried to mount our female Lacie though. Here's a couple of pics of their day together :)

Okay...I know enough to know that this isn't a sexual thing...I'm just wondering if it's normal for a 12 week old puppy to be doing this. It seems a little young to me, but since I don't have experience with male dogs that young...I'm asking...

I think he's going to be a dominant little guy, and I'm sure he didn't even attempt to mount Lacie bcuz she's the queen bee at our house. That was their first time meeting their little cousin dog :) They did have fun playing with him. We were just cracking up at Lucky going after Loki non stop (but Loki is a very submissive dog and didn't seem to mind at all).

i'd say it is normal if he's very dominant. my girl dog tried to hump ME when she was very young too and she is the dominant dog of my 2. sounds like the pup wants to make sure he establishes himself as alpha and he is too immature to have good dog manners about doing it...supposedly "real" alpha dogs don't need to assert their dominance. I read dogs that have to keep reinforcing they're dominant are really fearful or the nondominant one..but that is just 1 theory about it.
lol it's great he's getting good socializing this early with good dogs

None of my males have ever done it. Some do, some don't. It's up to you to train them to stop. This is one of those cases where a doggy time-out in another room or a crate for about 15 minutes will eventually cure the bad habit.

The dog is showing dominance towards the others, have it fixed by 6 months

Hi! Yes it's actually very normal for puppies to mount things like legs and i guess your Loki, for puppies, it's a play behavior. They usually stop when they become sexually mature.

male or female....dogs will hump to gain dominance. this is not just a sexual behavior...its a behavior to establish pack order.
