I have seen live Taylor Swift and I just saw One Republic on SYTYCD....
These people are TERRIBLE when live!
They have major off-key issues, and barely have the stamina for one song.
So why are their fans in denial about their so-called talent?
And let's not even MENTION the Jonas Bros!

I think this is a newer issue. Back when artists were expected to tour, and sound GOOD live, these people would have tanked.
Now, there's lip-synching, and those with very little talent can use 50 takes in the studio, mix it to sound like one song, then LS at "live" shows.
Makes me respect artists like Tina Turner, Cynd Laupr, Cher, and even Mariah.

Haha, I'm watching SYTYCD now, and One Republic was just on.
I think "studio voices" get so much respect because normal people can't do it. They can't do it without technical help. And people think they have true talent. Whiiiiich they don't.
I dislike Taylor Swift and One Republic anywhoooo.

Ah yes. This is what happens when people get signed and made super popular for a hot song as opposed to having real talent. You have sub par musicians that can't replicate live what it took them 50 takes to do in the studio.
It happens cuz that hot pop song sells! I mean hell, Britney never sang a note on stage, she just danced and lip synced.

The studio is where the album comes from and its and its the " constant" there are little imperfections, and you hear usually the same version of a song all the time. but when a band plays live there are many factors that can destroy the sound, ie the members are drunk or stoned, or both, sound man is off. or something like that.

yup, i agree. for example, i love some of rihanna's songs, but she's not exactly wonderful live (watched a random performance on youtube, and it was terrible!) there are very few artists today who could actually sound decent live. and it's not like the fans are asking them to sound like their "studio voices" (i'd listen to the album for that), but seriously, try to sound at least relatively good. if they constantly fail to do that, then they are unfortunately something i'd like to call "overrated".
