I have been stung many a times. The toxin causes some swelling with pain.

It goes away in say 1-2 weeks.

But in people allergic to the toxin it can cause serious problems.

Over time, your body will break down the toxin.

If the itching is really bothering you, consider using a topical antihistamin (benadryl cream or it's generic version - diphenhydramine HCl)

Is there much swelling? Keep track of not only the amount of swelling, but also how long it takes for the swelling to go away. More than a few days, you may becoming 'reactive' to bee venom.

My first sting - minor swelling, but took a week to go away
My 2nd sting - severe swelling, required benadryl injection by our doctor (it was prescription at the time)
My 3rd sting - severe swelling; required benadryl injection and follow-on antihistamine treatment for the next week. Doctor prescribed epi-pen but said to use it 'as a last resort'
My 4th sting - moderate swelling; took benadryl (per doctor's recommendation), lost consciousness before I could self inject. Blood pressure bottomed-out. My kid woke me up. Took antihistimine for another week as i had a rash in my airway.

As you can see, these things can progress with each sting. If you have any doubt, do yourself and your family a favor - get some benadryl and keep it nearby. Quick dissolve strips are handy & react quickly. Liquid is probably the fastest acting, but isn't as transportable. Pills & caplets just take too long to be of use.

Good luck & hope you feel better soon.

they usually hurt, then itch, totally normal, but you can put some bug bite lotion stuff on it, just make sure its for bees too
