Malaysian golfer here? How difficult is it to pick up golf from scratch for someone who knows nothing about it

And how much do you suppose one would have to spend initially, for golf equipments, proper clothings, lessons, etc..??

yes it is difficult since you have not play before. i try one on the field and the ball went at all directions ( i m not a golfer). if you want to start, try it at driving range.. there are many around. i ball will cost you about 10 cents and you can hit as many as you want. from there also you might can contacts for lessons.
Golf gear and clothing's are expensive. if you want to buy clothing's... the sales is on at jusco. most important you must get a golf shoes before you can step into the green (pandang golf).
On the equipment you can try 2nd hand since those irons/ driver are expensive. the is one shop opposite kelana jaya lrt station who sell those stuff.
And one more thing practice your wirst, you need it since this game need a lots of swings.
good luck..

Make sure you are physically fit...............those swings will be very painful for a first timer.............after effects of course
