Should YA have a question filter?

Personally, i cannot abide the relentless amount of seemingly desperate teen questions about their love life, eg. "What should i do?". I have not been on regularly for 6 months and these inane questions have increased even more.

Each to their own. But i wonder if it would be sensible if YA allowed you to check a box that filtered the sort of questions you do not want within the main Answer section, by category.

Maybe it would reduce the amount of heated answers.

Thoughts anyone?

Timberwolf, it's no more work - it's a piece of code.

Pete, im not sure what you mean

Pete, I have no idea about my avatar mix up. I have two pics in my profile - could be the fact that i am on a mac )they tend to muddle things up)!.

I am not suggesting a profanity filter - that would be insane. I am saying that, if i do not wish to answer questions about say Sport, i could check a box and no questions on sport would appear - just like no questions about relationships would go, if i checked the box marked singles and dating etc...

Susan, i hear you. But all that is required is an off the shelf code to filter. :-(

No, I don't think so. I do agree with what you have said, but having the Yahoo! Answers Team make that change would just introduce more problems into an already poorly running software environment. Then need to fix the current problems and keep them from "re-appearing". Additionally, I don't think they have the money budgeted or the staff to pull it off correctly.

There is a filter but it's set for certain "hot" words. Profanity, obscene, adult stuff of that nature.

check this out, unless it's you that posted, someone posted on the forum board:

Sherlock, what in the YaHell is going on? On the main board your picture show a pic of a man's face then on the question some kind of symbol.

Say I posted a question with the "F" word. Before it would reach the main board, Yahoo's filter would NOT allow it to be posted and I would be receiving a Violation notice stating that I've violated a community guideline.

I shared the Forum board link to show that someone else was suggesting for some kind of filtering or moderating to prevent Unclear questions from being posted.

No, too much trouble for Yahoo! to keep track of. It is all they can do to operate this site as it is.
