Will Newts eat the eyes on Telescopic Eyed Goldfish.?

I am thinking of getting a Fire belly Newt for my Goldfish tank, but am concerned about the eyes getting eaten. (I know Koi will eat the eyes). They will have land, the proper food, and a tank that is big enough. Thanks

newts when in feeding mode will bite anything (and i do mean anything i have a newt with a bite mark in its tail) that come near inculding bits of your fish
