What do you consider an "Act of God?" Insurance Companies think of it as something in nature that happens

like out of the blue a tree falling on your car. Personally I think of an "Act of God" as God taking a broken life and making it whole again. What do you think?

This is a question about Acts of God....not insurance companies.

This is a goodie Jan.
I don't know if I have ever told any-one this, as I was too ashamed at the time. (Small towns,) I was known well for my riding and cattle (primary producer.) etc
I had had abnormally hard day working as Manager of a Station, which I had worked on since I met married and divorced my ex.
I remember the ph ringing at 10 pm.
It was my mate Scottie, I we met when i was 15, he was 17 at Longreach in Pastoral College. And he got Dux, '82.
Loving parents and family.
His mum has had Alzheimer's, and Dad passed about 7 yr ago.
We've been through a lot together, (over the miles) Wow, 28 yrs now!
So my son was 5 month old the next day.

The long and the short of it is that I already knew I was going to drive 5 hrs that night to see some friends in a another small country town.
So 11pm I set off.
I guess I just used to push myself so hard, and never knew how invincible I am.
A few hrs into the trip I dropped into a persons place, he too was Manager of a station, and just had 'one for the road' with him, as
About past 1/2 way at an indiginous peoples reserve, Bohemia Downs, I yes never had before and never and hasn't since,
fell asleep at the whaeel.
And as people do when they make a mistake on the road, (at times) I woke up and over corrected.
I remember crshing through trees, over logs and we stopped.
I emediatley turned the car off and ran out to get my son out of the back.
I grabbed him and just ran in the direction of the road.
And kinda planned how far off the road I would go and hide, so thatno-one would to see us if any-one were to come past.
It was very cold and my son was wrapped up, but I took my jumper off and wrapped him in it anyways.
A car came along the forever- into the distance road, a few hrs later, still dark.
I knew I would hide my boy in the grass, just incase it was someone/s not so nice.
It worked out they were ok, and I told them I had a child, and went and grqbbed him.
They turned round and took me back to a Roadhouse, in which along the way we saw a truck driver sleeping and he rang on the CB ahead for an ambulanceto meet us.
God bless them.
We were a few of Days in hospital, my son was fine, but I was pretty cut and bruised.
Bless God for the Angels He sends (Overtime for us/me I guess ~smile~ ? )
Now The real point is, that we had many visitors, including my insurance company, the police, who lol dropped in often.
AND all who saw the scene, including the people who towed the vehicle,
ALL said
"Wow it is unbelievable you are still alive.
Not only that but you stopped .. - like that far from this amazingly large tree!

Contrary to popular belief, the insurance companies' use of the term "Act of God" isn't a loophole to get out of paying out claims; it's a disclaimer.

Insurance companies make money based on the "law of averages", which states that certain things happen with predictable frequency given a large enough population sample: hurricanes, fires, car accidents, medical issues, injuries, and so on. That's why whenever you get insurance, they get all kinds of medical and behavioral information from you so they can predict your chances of filing a claim.

They then invest the money the get in premiums, and their profit (often considerable) is the difference between the return on their investment and claims they need to pay out. An "Act of God" is any event that will cause such widespread damage or injury that the insurance firm is unable to pay all outstanding claims.

For example, suppose you sell medical insurance to people, and figure that they have on average a 10% chance of being hospitalized, and the average annual hospital bill is $100. That means each year, you must collect at least $10 from every person to cover average claims, and maybe a little bit more in case there's a slight uptick. But, if an earthquake happened and all your insured people got hurt, you'd only be able to pay 10% of the total claims before you went bankrupt. Thus, the earthquake would be an "Act of God".

Well there are acts of God & acts of god. Remember that the devil will want us to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. And the devil is a god over rebellious children.

While I trust my God that I am at the right place at the right time.

God does mend our broken lives. When we call on the Name of Jesus!

But God also allows the devil to bring a hurricane in. God always has the final say. One example is hurrican Katrina. Gateway Fellowship was praying for the hurrican to turn. One girl fell in a trance & had a vision of a sword dividing up Israel & a sword dividing up USA & heard the words "Land for land." when coming out of the trance. And they new that God allowed the devil to hit US.
Israel had just withdrawn from Gaza. And so? Gaza & the land we lost are about the same size.
Bless Israel & be blessed. Curse Israel & be cursed. That is Gods Word already written.

Until insurance companies figure out how to get God in the courtroom to testify, I'm going to say that the "Act of God" clause is just another way for insurance companies to screw you by creating a fool-proof exclusion.

how long would an insurance company be in business if they didnt say that every bad thing that happens was an act of God?

but i happen to consider that "an act of God" is something beneficial to people. [Psalm 86:5]
Jesus went about doing good. and God would have His people to do good to others. [Acts 10:38; 1 Peter 4:10]

i grew up saying so in the "saying of grace" before our meals.
"God is great, God is good, and we thank Him for our meal." [Psalm 77:13; 1 Timothy 4:4]

James. 1:13
"let no one say that when he is tested, "i'm being tested by God"
for God cannot be tempted to do evil, neither can He tempt anyone with evil."
