trickle battery charger...will it charge a dead battery

I have a car w/ a dead battery , (06 Ford Fusion) and won't be able to drive it for probably a cpl more months...( going thru probate...)
So I am wondering, if I hook up a solar trickle charger to the cigarette lighter, will it eventually charge the battery back up enough to start it ? and leave that way until I can put it on the road ?

I'm plugged in also and have had starting problems. I found out the plug-in charges the battery that turns on the lights but not the engine. There are connections between the two sets of batteries. My connections had been damaged, which is why the starter couldn't pull from the other batteries (that were plugged in). Also, the rv uses marine batteries that need trickle charge. So check your battery connections and hook up to a slow charger.

Dead is dead.... But how long have you had it sitting and is it really
dead or just in need of a recharge ? It's always good to run a vehicle
at least once a week for a bit. (NOT by you till your ordeal is over),
Once your sentence is over, you'll be ready to go. That battery is
only two years old now that I think of it. Why would it be dead.
Can't your folks take the car out for a spin for you. Start with a
slow battery charge. Not really a trickle, a 10amp should do for
a specific amount of time....
Good luck..

is some cars yes it will work . on allot of the newer cars, the power to that cigarette lighter is controlled by the ignition, so the key has to be on for it to work. if the fusion is like this, your key on accessories might be more than the output of the charger. but if it is not like the situation that i have mentioned, then you can do this , but it could take quite a while.

After a battery goes dead it is usually just going to stay that way no matter how many times you charger it you may be able to start it but after you shut it off for the night it will just die you are better off buying a new battery.
