Need recommendation for baseball book, please see details
I need to get a book or books for this guy very much into baseball. He's in his 70's and has great interest in the teams & players of the 1920's to 1940 but continues to keep up with the game . He likes to read, so appreciate any help. Would like to find some good reads less common as he has MANY books. Thanks much.

the 33 year old rookie.
this is an autobiography about chris coste, a Phillies catcher who was a 33 year old rookie
Some invaluable, not-so-well-known books, some with a Canadian angle:
Bill Lee, Jim Prime. "Baseball Eccentrics" ISBN 978-1-57243-953-5 Bob Elliott. "The Northern Game". 1-894963-40-7 David Menary. "Terrier Town: Summer of '49" 0-88920-427-6 Peter Richmond. "Ballpark" (the building of Camden Yards, a must for Orioles fans) 0-761-74851-3 Brendan Boyd, Fred Harris. "The Great American Baseball Card Flipping, Trading, and Bubble Gum Book" (1973) 0-316-10429-9 (This is a gem.)
Anything by Bill James, but for this customer I'd suggest his book on managers. Lots of olde tyme guys, interesting analyses, both old-fashioned and new-fangled.
It's about 10 years old, but James' stuff rings true durably.
