What part do I need to get for a 94 taurus transmission to have it shift at the correct time.?
It starts and runs fine, but won't shift when it is suppose to. This drove fine, and when I went to go to the store the following morning it wouldn't shift. Could some one tell me what part I need exactly. Was told it is on the side of the transmission and was a sensor, but the parts guy said there is not sensor for a transmission. Please give me any information you have, it would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a VSS ( Vehicle Speed Sensor ) and not a easy one to get to on that Taurus. It is located on the trans axle and firewall and a little time and patience and some experience recommended. As for junk car better check the history of top ten best selling cars from 1986 to 2000 and for reliability. Not here to argue just to try to help. Hope this will help and have a great day.
The older Taurus' are infamous for trans probs. The AX4N tranny is stable, yet has some subject concerns. With mine, the only million-2 shift solenoid went out and the automobile could positioned itself into intermittent independent (sooo lots exciting in heavy site visitors!!) i could say its time for a sparkling trans. attempt to locate a rebuilt one..it will prolly run you around $one million,000 yet you under no circumstances comprehend, you are going to be able to desire to locate one extra reasonable. The 'jerk' could desire to be which you havent permit the automobile heat up yet. lots of situations, in case you do not permit the automobile heat up earlier going, the viscosity of the trans fluid is in simple terms too thick (bc its so chilly) and the torque converter will jerk to get going. stable success
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Ford makes really crappy small transmissions. My friend had a 96 taurus given to him by his father and he had so much money in that thing it was unreal. He said that it was like having to make a car payment on a free car. After the tranny went out he finally gave up. Get rid of that car if you can. it is going to be a cash drain on you. That is the one of the worse cars that Ford has ever made. http://www.topix.com/forum/autos/ford-taurus/T9LKFK9HRSR5RKTFJ/p2
