What is the word "slum/s" in Tagalog/ Filipino?

I need the Filipino term of "slums/poor, impoverished area"...as in "Slums of Tondo".

I believe we don't have a direct translation for that. We simply use 'iskwater' which is still borrowed from the english 'squatter'

there is no direct translation..however, you could say "home along da riles"(home along the railways) or "sa mga eskinita" (in the streets/alleys) or "sa mga lansangan"(in the streets) or the common term "squatters' area"..these are common terms and can be accepted in Filipino writing..good luck!!

squatters area is often used.

sa looban ng Tondo..(inner part of Tondo)
(I'm not really sure)
