I recently bought a compensator for my 1911 (it is the kind that replaces the barrel bushing), and after I installed it, it now seems like the recoil spring is getting bunched up.
Anyone know what the problem might be?

Is this a cone comp? Who installed it if it is a cone comp? A lighter spring with less coils will prob be needed, along with a recoil pad / buffer on the guide rod. Talk to a PISTOL smith you trust. I could straighten out the prob but I'm not there. Good Luck hope this helped.

I read a wonderful article recently regarding the M1911 and M1911A1 which simply put states the John Browning design is in fact perfection plain and simple. People have for decades been trying to improve it, but all they are doing in effect is wasting their efforts. If it is too harsh a weapon to fire then it isn't the handgun for you, but the problem isn't in the gun! Sure you can dress it up and make it all fancy, but you ain't making it better. The purpose of a compensator is to adjust the recoil of a weapon, exercising your firing hand and wrist accomplishes the exact same goal as well as being able to apply to any other M1911/M1911A1 you might pick up at the range or in battle...
