1911 question.......................?

I recently bought a compensator for my 1911 (it is the kind that replaces the barrel bushing), and after I installed it, it now seems like the recoil spring is getting bunched up.

Anyone know what the problem might be?

As noted above, this is technically the wrong section, but something I have dealt with in the past.

When a compensator/replacement bushing is installed, it has to be fitted to the barrel/slide. If it is not simply placed on the barrel and it works. This is a hand fitting that takes an hour or so. You want the barrel to lock up just as it goes into battery without any binding ( which is what you are having now when you say the recoil spring is bunching up).

If you have no experience in this area ( which I am assuming), I would NOT recommend you attempt to fit the bushing yourself. Get someone who is experienced or go to your local gun store and ask there.

Best of luck and I hope this is useful to you

I'd try your question on the AR-15 forum, they have a section dedicated to the 1911.
