OK I get it. I will listen to his doctor, but we don't see him until FRIDAY and he has these disturbing white spots. I thought perhaps there might be a tech on here who could offer an opinion.

My nephew started having symptoms, too. They did the MRI on a Tuesday, and quickly went into surgery a few days later on that Thursday. The doctors came out shaking their heads saying how sorry they were and it would be a matter of time. They took biopsies during the surgery and said to my sister that they would meet the following week on Monday and discuss the next steps. This was at a large hospital and the doctor who did the surgery did brain surgeries daily. My nephew was just 20 and recently married. It was a lot for his new bride and the whole family. We started praying, including St. Peregrine the patron saint of cancer patients. The following Monday the doctor was again shaking his head. He said I know what I saw, and I can't explain this but the biopsy came back negative, so did the sample that was sent to Johns Hopkins. My nephew underwent chemo just to be sure, even though he was told he'd be sterile. His wife is now expecting their second child, and Nora is 2 1/2 now. The tumor scare was over 5 years ago. When my husband was diagnosed with cancer we went numb. We wanted answers and needed them now, and the doctors kept saying wait. It is frustrating, and I can understand where you are coming from. I pray for your peace while you are waiting for the answers to your questions, and I hope that your son doesn't have cancer. And just a guess, if they gave you a copy, they probably weren't too worried about it. So, try to stay possitive about the situation. Your son needs you to be strong.
I looked at the MRI and the white spots could quite possibly be of no significance. Then again, it could be as simple as a virus that entered his system and will go away like any other. Then there's the chance that is could be something else. Tumors and brain adenomas come in all different types, from benign to malignant. So here's what you should do: See what the doctor has to say, find out if he found anything. If he says all is normal and you feel in your heart something is wrong, then don't back down. You have this disk of the MRI, take it to another neurologist for a second opinion.Then in 3 months, if you still don't have an answer and your son is still having symptoms take him back. You may even see an endocrinologist. I was having extreme migraines and neck pain, I went to the doctor, they ran MRIs and told me everything was normal. Yet, I KNEW in my heart something was not right, something was wrong with me. I went back, about 3 weeks after another MRI I found out I had a benign tumor in my head. It's called a craniopharyngioma, so my point is, if your son and you don't agree, don't back down. Try to get a second, even third opinion. Doctors are humans, and sometimes they make mistakes too. Goodluck. Oh and P.S have them do an "MRI with Contrast" it's more accurate and will help them better interpret and find anything that may be there, that's how they found mine. I hope nothing is wrong with your son, but if there is, I hope they find it soon. Goodluck again.
Hi Dona, I totally understand why you are doing this. I have felt like you in the past. I actually can't tell you anything about the MRI, I just wanted to... I actually don't know exactly what to tell you, but seeing your post touched me somehow. My son was diagnosed with leukemia in 2004, and during those difficult years I found myself searching for answers everywhere. In most cases people never had a clue on what to say. My advice to you is to talk to the doctors and get acquainted with the situation and the procedures on the internet. Asking people will only bring you down. Seriously, people don't know what to say, and sometimes they say the wrong thing. They hear the word "cancer" or "tumor" and they think is some sort of death sentence and then they just give you a sad look or express a stupid opinion. I wish I could say something helpful about the MRI. Just keep yourself strong okay? Pray a lot, and ask God for his help. He will listen to you. That's what I did, and now my son is well. I wish you and your son the best, and I will be praying for him.
