Sharp Stomach Pain? What Could it Be?
About 3 weeks ago I was in mental health hospital detoxing and stabilizing my Bipolar medications. One day while after I ate I got this completely HORRIBLE sharp pain under sternum and right breast. I went to take a shower hoping the heat would help, but ended up having to get out to vomit. At the time, the nurse just said "you're detoxing, I'll give you a shot of Tygan (for nausea)". It didn't help at all and after being kept up all night with the pain I asked to see a medical doctor. She never showed, but by the time the staff cared (a day later) the pain had dropped down to a mild soreness.
Now, I'm getting it again, always after I eat or drink. I haven't thrown up again but it makes me nauseous. Sometime the pain radiates down the right arm or under my right shoulder blade. This morning it last 5.5 hours. The other day I was tossing and turning in bed for 3.5 hours because it hurt when I laid in anyway. Heat, mylanta, tums, and pepto bismol do not help it.
Here are some things you should know because they could have contributed:
I just got over pneumonia right before the pain started.
I developed asthma a few months ago from (reactive airway symdrome).
I had a two week period where I was constantly coughing--and hard.
My family has a history of gallbladder and kidney issues.
i was detoxing off heroin.
