My husband has been teaching me a little bit how to ride on his 750cc bike and I'm looking at taking the MSF class which uses 250 and 100cc bikes. My husband's bike is kind of intimidating right now so I'm hoping to get my feet wet with this class and build up my confidence so just looking for what to expect the differences to be as far as riding. You'll find it a lot easier: they are lighter and closer to the ground so turning and low speed work is much easier. You also have less power and acceleration to worry about.

I took the course on the supplied 250 cc bikes, but I was riding a 1300 cc cruiser. The power difference will be very noticeable, as will the weight. Don't take the course on a 100 bike.
But you should not have too much difficulty adapting if you are careful.

You should do fine on the 250cc. Because the class starts with the basics, you will have plenty of time to get used to the bike. The 250cc doesn't have a great deal of power, so the intimidation factor will quickly fade once you gain control of the "friction zone". Good Luck you should do fine.

A 250 is lighter, and a little easier to handle. My wife just bought a 250 rebel. She enjoys it. It is not nearly as much fun as my nighthawk 750 though. In the class the 250 works out much better because you are on a small closed course.

smaller bikes are easier
smaller bikes at those speeds are safer esp if they fall on you.
smaller bikes turn easier
smaller bikes allow you to use less force to command them.
smaller bikes let your feet touch the ground easier.
