Does anyone think SNL is actually funny anymore?

Was that their best stuff for the season opener? What a stupid show - but does anyone watch it because they think it's FUNNY? Madtv is on a different channel around the same time and it's pretty funny: Michael McDonald, Aries Spears, Bobby Lee - they're as good as when SNL had real actors like the original cast or Eddie Murphy, Will Ferrel, David Spade, Chris Farley, etc. (Sorry Adam Sandler was never funny and still isn't).

Yeah it has really changed over the years. I am just surprised with as many talented writers out there they can't bring someone on better to make the show worth watching. I watch because it has been my tradition all my life, but once over I always cringe and wonder why I just wasted an hour and a half of my life.

I still enjoy the show. Season opener was not very good but think that had more to do with Michael not having good comedic timing...or acting ability at all.

Funny you say "when SNL had real actors..." All were nobodies before SNL. SNL is the reason you know them today.

They have a good cast...need to drop that new guy Billy whatever his name is ...just checked SNL's site looks like they have already, he is not listed.

I have the Sept. 18, 2008 issue of Rolling Stone and it talks about the "New Golden Age of Comedy."

I think comedy IS reaching a new age.
And it's not funny.

Come on! Robin Williams is on the back cover
*grabbing himself*...

That's not funny. I grew up watching Flubber, Jumanji, and Aladdin. I don't want to see HIM doing something like that. It's sick.

SNL what happened? Get someone like Chris Farley back or go "live in a van down by the river!!!" Cause this new junk is getting old.

Chris Farley will always be the funniest SNL member. He was hilarious! No, I don't think it's as funny anymore.

No. The 1970' and early 80's are long gone and so is the writing on that show.
