Which is better: Yoshi's Island for DS or Gameboy advance?

My son wants Yoshi's Island for his DS for his 7th birthday, but I heard it suggested that the Gameboy Advance version is overall a better version of the game than the actual DS game. I know that Advance games can be played on the DS, but is it really a better version? He's 6 1/2, he's never played the original, and he'd probably be just as happy as long as baby Mario is there. But if there's a better one, naturally I want to check it out.

The one for DS is a sequel while the one for GBA is a remake of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island for SNES. Both are great games, Yoshi's Island DS is a bit easier while I would say Yoshi's Island GBA probably has some better level design and might be a bit more fun, but it's really close, both great games, the DS also has the ability to play as Baby Mario, Baby Donkey Kong, and Baby Peach. Also since he is playing on a DS, the DS version will use both screens which makes it a little easier on the eyes (because it makes the allusion that you have a bigger screen), while the GBA one would only use one screen. Both great games, I'd say depending on how much you actually think he's going to play it and how much of a price difference there is would be the biggest thing, but rest assure which ever you get him, he'll probably have fun with either.
