Hmm...well, for a start both Rubens and Ribera were Baroque painters. Typically, Ribera (who was known for his use of tenebrism) used more contrast in his work than Rubens, but his painting "The Virgin and Child Enthroned with Saints" is very similar in style to Rubens' "The Madonna in a Garland of Flowers". Both have a sense of movement and use a variety of colours. "The Holy Family with Saint Anne and Catherine of Alexander" is more typical of Ribera's tenebrist works, which features sharper contrast and cleaner lines than Rubens.
