My 17 day old daughter is drinking 3oz of breast milk via bottle in less than 2 minutes! Is this bad?
My wife was having problems breast feeding, so we bought a pump.. We pump out a total of 3oz to feed our 17-day-old daughter... who used to get that amount of milk via breast feeds in approx 20 min... and with a bottle drinks it all in under 2minutes.. now i see online that it should be taking 20-40 minutes.. she doesn't fuss after feedings.. just isn't as exhausted and falls asleep after one of us "rocks" her to sleep... we first accidentally used a "3 month nipple", then switched to a playtex "drop in" bottle with the slow flow nipple (0-3month) ... HELP PLEASE!

My second kid could get 8 oz from my breasts at that age and spent 2 min on each side. I was worried about how fast she nursed so I nursed her at the doctor's office, and weighed her before and after- was shocked that she got so much so fast. Some kids are fast eaters. My first was much slower.
Don't worry about it. I had some issues with breastfeeding in the beginning, and had to give my daughter pumped milk for a week or two. It would take me forever to pump it, and then she'd chug it and it would be gone in about a minute. They drink much more quickly from the bottle. Also, when they're breastfeeding they're usually falling asleep.. and sometimes not even really drinking much at all.
how do you know how much she was drinking from teh breast- it's much easier to suck from the bottle than the breast but that's why breastfeeding helps increase jaw strength.
breastfeeding releases a hormone to both omther andd baby that relaxes them and may make them tired- it's completely normal pumpign doesn't get nearly the amount of of the breast as baby does and since breastfeeding is supply and demand- her milk could dry up quickly
that's what i was about to ask about the nipple size. my daughter eats faster on evenflo then she does on the nuks. different companies different nipples
