Do you know of any good video programs that teach american sign language?

Do you know of any good video programs that teach american sign language? I can't learn sign by reading a book on how to do it, I do better to actually see it done. I was going to take an ASL course at the local community college, but they don't offer it anymore. Any ideas?

I don't know any good video programs, but you could try this website:
http://www.lifeprint.com/asl101/
It has pictures and videos and lessons and it's free :)

That's really sad that your community college doesn't offer ASL classes anymore. If you're really interested, maybe you can start a petition to get them started again?

If you would like to buy a program, I highly recommend the Signing Naturally series (1, 2, and 3). They are books that come with video tapes (I know... pretty old school). Those are the books that the community college near me uses for their ASL classes.

You can also buy online video classes at these sites:
http://www.handspeak.com
http://www.signingonline.com

The only website that I know of (honestly) that has free online video ASL lessons is mine, which is:
http://www.start-american-sign-language.com
It's a fairly new site, but I add new lessons very frequently.

Happy signing!

there's a super distinction between British and American sign Language. British sign Language is greater of a 2 exceeded technique and is greater awkward than American sign that's relatively one exceeded and hence ASL is a lot swifter.

get together with other signers. or get involved in the Deaf community.
