Can a spindle be unwelded from a bent trailer axle?

One wheel of my 1500-lb capacity boat trailer got run into an immovable object. (Fortunately there was no boat on it.) The axle is bent but the wheels and spindles are fine. I assume it's unsafe to run an "unbent" axle. I can't find a ready-made replacement so I want to get one welded up. I can buy the beam material (1-1/2" square tube) and spindles, but would prefer to use the existing spindles, saving their cost and ensuring that I can use the existing wheels.
So, can a welder remove the spindles for reuse?

LaserJim's answer is encouraging but my situation is different in one respect: the removed spindle has to be cleaned of old weld material to fit in the new tube. Is that part doable?

Yes a good welder can remove the old spindle and insert it in the 1 1/2 no problem. The spindle is much harder than the axle and is probably OK. I have cut out old spindles many times and re welded new when the bearing has locked up and ruined the spindle and this is no different. Prices will ve very different so shop around.

Bent Trailer Axle

I rather have heard of persons using a jack with a load or some form of rigidity on the trailer to hold it down whilst using the jack to maintain on with rigidity to the axle then using basically slightly perspective iron to truss the axle afterwards. the superb way may well be to swap the axles even with the undeniable fact that provided that they have a bow to them production facility and are not completely on the instant to start with.

If you want to be extra safe, weld a piece of angle iron to the axle where it was bent for extra strength

I think that would be a tough job to do. I can't see them getting welded on a new tube and not be out of alignment causing your tires to wear fast.
